Consign

Why Consign

The Consignment Store, LLC is a Home Furnishings store that buys, consigns and sells  quality used furniture, home décor, select antiques and more. We partner with sellers in finding homes for that furniture and accessories that they no longer need, have room for or no longer fit their style. Conveniently located and with regular hours, we bring buyers and sellers together in a safe environment. For buyers, no carrying cash on late night visits to unknown addresses to view furniture you may or may not want or buy. For sellers, no internet scams or strangers coming to your home at all hours of the day or night or calling while you are at work. We do all the advertising, selling and if necessary, credit card processing for you. Our high traffic location along with our website offers maximum exposure for your items. On average, 20-25,000 users visit our website monthly from all over the world.  Our computerized inventory system tracks each item during the consignment period and allows us to immediately pay our consignors when each item is sold. A sophisticated alarm system provides for safe storage and display of your items.

If convenience, safety, exposure and security of your items are a concern to you, The Consignment Store offers all that and more.

How to Consign

Our consignments include higher quality, gently used sofas, loveseats, daybeds, bedroom furniture, media centers, dining room and kitchen furniture, home office furniture, outdoor furniture, room dividers, area rugs, lamps (bulbs and shades must be included), clocks (if required batteries must be included), silk plants, mirrors, wall décor and other select home décor items, and artwork in current styles and colors. Selling prices are arrived at by taking into account the current supply of that particular item or type of furniture, demand, style, condition and original cost. You must be at least 18 years of age to consign with us.

We will consider consigning select items offered by local artisans and other interesting items that are of high quality where we feel we have a reasonable chance of selling the item in a reasonable time period for our consignor.

For furniture and home décor, all items must be current and in style, in new or like new condition and must be clean and ready to go out on the floor to be accepted. For upholstered pieces this would mean no fading, stains, heavy soiling, tears, pet hairs, pet odors, smoking odors or structural damage of any kind. Please note that pre-approval of an item prior to us seeing it does not guarantee that the item will be accepted when brought in. Each item must meet the above listed criteria or we will be unable to accept it. If any item has to be cleaned prior to being able to offer it for sale, a $25.00 per hour labor charge will be deducted from the consignor's net check amount.

Pricing

Although we will consult with you regarding a selling price for each of the items that you wish to consign, the final sales price must be arrived at by The Consignment Store, LLC and agreed to by you. We will research each item and base the selling price on any number of factors including the brand, where it was purchased, supply, demand, age, style, color, finish, condition, the MSRP, the original sales price and what the item could be purchased for new in the current market. The highest selling price that we can expect is ½ of the new price if the item meets the above criteria and is in like new condition. If the item is not in like new condition the selling price will be less than 1/2. The price will remain firm (unless the consignor allows us to discount the item) during the the first 30 day consignment period. If the item does not sell during the first 30 days The Consignment Store reservers the right to reduce the asking price by 20%.

Payment

Consignors will be paid by company check on the Tuesday following the day of the sale of your item.  In the case of an item that has been placed on layaway, it will be the Tuesday after the final payment has been received.  Checks will be available for pickup on late Tuesday or will be mailed on Wednesday.
